Nationally prominent director Ron Himes directs Nebraska Rep's 'Dutchman'

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Nebraska’s Actors’ Equity Association professional regional theatre, continues its 50th Anniversary year season with DUTCHMAN by LeRoi Jones/Amiri Baraka.

Performances are:
February 13 and 14 at 7:30 pm (preview performances)
February 15 at 7:30 pm (opening night)
February 19, 20, 21, 22 at 7:30 pm
February 16, 23 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm
February 17, 24 at 2:00 pm

A celebration 150 years in the making

Lincoln, Neb.--On Charter Day, Feb. 15, 2019, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a monumental evening of live performance and multimedia entertainment titled, “Charter Day Celebration: Music and Milestones.” At this special event, host Jeff Zeleny, University of Nebraska alumnus, native Nebraskan and Senior White House Correspondent for CNN, will guide the audience through some of the University’s major accomplishments.

Cinema, technology visionary Ted Schilowitz presents Q&A at Carson School Dec. 3

Lincoln, Neb.—Ted Schilowitz, the first-ever Futurist-in-Residence for Paramount Pictures, will participate in a Q&A on the future of emerging technologies and cinema on Monday, Dec. 3 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Rm. 213 of the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. The Q&A is free and open to the university community. Faculty, staff and students are invited to bring their lunch and participate in the session.

Broadway star Duling to headline Nebraska Rep's annual 'The Holiday Cabaret'

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Nebraska’s Actors’ Equity Association professional regional theatre, continues its 50th Anniversary year season Dec. 13 with its second annual holiday celebration, "The Holiday Cabaret," conceived and directed by Andy Park with Broadway star, Kally Duling headlining. Opening night is Thursday, Dec. 13 with additional 7:30 p.m. performances Dec. 14-15 and a 2 p.m. performance on Sunday, Dec. 16 at the Temple Building, 12th & R streets, in Lincoln.

'Mother Courage' is epic masterpiece of struggle, survival

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Repertory Theatre presents the epic masterpiece of struggle and survival, “Mother Courage,” by Bertolt Brecht.

Performances are Nov. 7-18 in the Temple Building. For tickets and showtimes, visit http://nebraskarep.org/. “Mother Courage” contains adult content and themes.

In this new adaptation of the classic play, the drama unfolds during the height of the American Civil War. While Mother Courage profits from the spoils of war, she faces the ultimate sacrifice.

Theatrix continues its season with 'Dry Land' Nov. 1-4

Lincoln, Neb.--Theatrix, the student-run theatre company within the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, continues its 2018-2019 season with "Dry Land," written by Ruby Rae Spiegel and directed by University of Nebraska student, Kaitlin Triplett.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1-3 and 2 p.m. on Nov. 4. All performances take place in the Lab Theatre in the Temple Building at 12th and R streets. "Dry Land" contains mature content that may not be suitable for all audiences.

Carson School senior’s animated film wins awards at area film festivals

Lincoln, Neb.--Michaela Wadzinski’s advanced project, “Negative Spaces,” has been winning recognition at several film festivals recently. Wadzinksi is a senior film and new media major in the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film.

The film won the Best in Animation Award from Ron Clements at the Sioux City International Film Festival in September. Clements, who is originally from Sioux City, has worked at Disney for 45 years and co-directed and co-wrote “Moana,” as well as other Disney films such as “Aladdin,” “The Little Mermaid” and “Hercules.”

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Nebraska’s Actors’ Equity Association professional regional theatre, continues its 50th Anniversary year season Nov. 7-8 with two preview performances of a new adaptation of the classic "Mother Courage" by Bertolt Brecht, with music by Scott Lamps, book and lyrics by Andy Park, from the translation by William Grange. Opening night of this world premiere is Friday, Nov. 9 with additional performances November 12-16 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 11 & 18 at 2 p.m. at the Temple Building, 12th & R streets.

Applications now open for Bachelor of Fine Arts in Emerging Media Arts, faculty positions

Lincoln, Neb.--Applications are now open for the new Bachelor of Fine Arts in Emerging Media Arts at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s new Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, which opens Fall 2019. New faculty positions are also open for applications.

“We are searching for future creative leaders,” said Megan Elliott, founding director of the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts. “The new Bachelor of Fine Arts in Emerging Media Arts has been intentionally designed to robot-proof students for a future of life-long learning and relentless change.”
