Lincoln, Neb.--The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts undergraduate student advisory board, in conjunction with ASUN senators and student advisory boards from the College of Journalism and Mass Communications and College of Architecture, have organized Creative Minds Mental Health Week with events happening Nov. 26-29.

Nov. 26-28, there will be “self-care stations” featuring booths with coloring books, snacks and “self-care toolkits” provided by CAPS (Counseling and Psychiatric Services) set-up in Westbrook Music Building, Temple Building, Richards Hall, Architecture Hall and Andersen Hall.

On Thursday, Nov. 29, the week will conclude with the Creative Minds Mental Health Forum at 7 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, which is located on the first floor of the Temple Building. The forum will feature a panel discussion between student representatives from music, dance, theatre, film, art, architecture and journalism, moderated by the president of UNL’s Chapter of Active Minds.

A reception will follow the panel in the Temple Building Lobby with free Raising Canes and Pepsi provided.

The goal of this event is to spark a conversation about the specific stressors students experience when engaged in creative practice and how campus mental health resources could be improved to address the specific needs of "creative minds."
