Broadway star Duling to headline Nebraska Rep's annual 'The Holiday Cabaret'

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Nebraska’s Actors’ Equity Association professional regional theatre, continues its 50th Anniversary year season Dec. 13 with its second annual holiday celebration, "The Holiday Cabaret," conceived and directed by Andy Park with Broadway star, Kally Duling headlining. Opening night is Thursday, Dec. 13 with additional 7:30 p.m. performances Dec. 14-15 and a 2 p.m. performance on Sunday, Dec. 16 at the Temple Building, 12th & R streets, in Lincoln.

“It’s the hap-happiest season of all,” and according to director Park, there is no better way to “get into the holiday spirit than joining the Rep for this toe-tapping, uplifting night of song, good cheer and revelry.”

Enjoy holiday classics which are both naughty and nice as audience members join in the fun of a true cabaret setting with general admission seating at small round tables filled with holiday treats. Beverages may be purchased throughout the performance.

Broadway star Duling returns to her hometown to headline the Cabaret. Duling said, “The opportunity to come home to join the Rep’s holiday cabaret couldn’t have come at a more perfect moment. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the incredibly talented UNL students while spending a little extra time with my family this holiday season. It truly is ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ to surround yourself with music and family. I can’t wait to share some great holiday tunes with one of my favorite cities in the world.”

Duling is best known for her Broadway run and national tour of FUN HOME. She has also appeared in AMERICAN HERO, NEXT TO NORMAL, INTO THE WOODS, THE TALL GIRLS, THE FIFTH OF JULY, GUYS AND DOLLS, PETER PAN, EVITA, and BABES IN TOYLAND to name a few, at regional theatres throughout the country. Film and television roles include “The Good Wife,” “One Bad Choice,” “Indecision 2010,” and “Street Pillow.”

Duling’s critical reviews of her role as Joan in FUN HOME state that she “seduces with a self-confident swagger” (Perry Tannenbaum, Broadway World) and that she is “terrific” (Julia M. Klein, Philadelphia Inquirer).

Duling is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University and Lincoln East High School who cut her theatrical teeth at the Lincoln Community Playhouse. Lincoln audiences may remember Duling’s performance as Crissy in the Playhouse production of HAIR directed by Robin McKercher.

Vince Learned is music director. University of Nebraska students Matthew Carter, Abby Kurth, Hannah Ramsgard, Karen Richards, Ryan Savage, Elaine Stueve and Cullen Wiley make up the cast.
