Fellowships & Other Financial Support

Fellowship support is available from the University, the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, and the Glenn Korff School of Music. Students do not self-nominate, but rather their names are put forward by faculty in each area of the school during the admissions process. Most fellowships are added to the GA stipend. Students may hold these fellowships through the usual time of completing their degree.

UNL Graduate Studies Endowed Fellowships are available on a competitive basis.

From the College, the Hixson-Lied Fellowships in Music are awarded to Graduate Assistants in the Glenn Korff School of Music who possess credentials of the highest quality. Awards to Hixson-Lied Fellows are currently valued at $3500 per year in addition to the GA stipend.

From the Glenn Korff School of Music, fellowship support is available on a competitive basis. These fellowships range from $1000 to $4500.

Graduate Music Education Fellowships: All students who are first-time applicants to the master’s program in music education for Summer 2025 admission will automatically be considered for receipt of a limited number of fellowships. Review of applications will begin May 1, 2025 and fellowships of up to $1,000 will be awarded based on merit and the date the degree application was completed.

For the MM Music Education Specialization: Review of applications for the Summer 2025 Graduate Music Education Fellowships will begin May 1, 2025, and will be awarded based on merit and the date by which the degree application was completed. No separate fellowship application is required; all first-time applicants are considered.
