Art History & Design
Letter from the Director
I would like to be the first to welcome you to the School of Art, Art History & Design at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. As the new Director, I write to you with excitement and optimism for our future. The talent among our faculty, students and staff is amazing, and I know we will work together to enhance the cultural and intellectual life of the university and our contemporary society. Our school champions discipline intensive and boundary pushing approaches as the key to a comprehensive artistic education. We develop our students as independent artists and scholars in seven areas: Art History, Ceramics, Drawing & Painting, Graphic Design, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture.
At the School of Art, Art History & Design we strive for excellence in all that we do. True excellence requires that each individual be able to work and learn in an atmosphere of respect, dignity, and acceptance. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion requires each of us to continuously ensure our interactions be respectful, protect free speech and inspire academic freedom, which reflect our commitment to the ideals of a leading land-grant, comprehensive research university.
I look forward to a very bright and exciting future together.
