Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Wind Ensemble will perform a concert on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
The concert is free and open to the public. The concert will also be live webcast. Visit https://go.unl.edu/gksomwebcasts the day of the performance for the link.
“The Wind Ensemble’s concert features a broad spectrum of styles, forms and colors designed to enable the audience to explore different approaches to listening,” said Carolyn Barber, the Ron and Carol Cope Professor of Music and Director of Bands in the Glenn Korff School of Music.
The program includes David Maslanka’s “Morning Star,” Ron Nelson’s “Pavane: for Michele in April,” James Syler’s “Tattoo” and Bejamin Horne’s “Spiritual Symphony.”
“David Maslanka’s ‘Morning Star’ follows a quirky theme on an energetic adventure full of possibility. Ron Nelson’s ‘Pavane: for Michele in April’ allows a gentle melody to illuminate the subtleties of a couple’s love for one another. James Syler’s ‘Tattoo’ builds a sonic playground in which each listener crafts their own experience from the simplest of materials. Finally, Benjamin Horne’s ‘Spiritual Symphony’ draws the listener into a rich and vital cultural tradition encompassing the breadth of the human condition,” Barber said.
The concert invites audiences to discover something new.
“For those hoping to be moved by what they hear, to be surprised, delighted, and perhaps challenged, this is an opportunity not to be missed,” she said.
