Jen Landis

Assistant Professor of Practice in Graphic Design
MFA, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 2006

Jen Landis is passionately committed to art as a pathway for young people to create community, build self-esteem, and express creativity. Recently, Jen has channeled that passion into creating and sustaining three educational art communities for girls and young women: Pincurl Girls, Art Gang, and Urban Sketch Club.

Jen began the foundational work for these communities during her time in graduate school, when she realized she was losing her self-confidence by comparing herself to others. Recognizing that negative self-talk was the source of her self-doubt, Jen turned to the concept of positive messaging.

Pulling inspiration from these periods of self-doubt, Jen now invests her time and artistic talent into cultivating communities, where girls experience connection and self-love, while also developing their art skills, learning about women artists, and gaining exposure to art that represents humanity’s diversity. Through this work, Jen has continued to affect real change and make impact on young girls throughout the Lincoln community.
