Lincoln, Neb.--The Glenn Korff School of Music will host the inaugural Single Reed Day on Sunday, Sept. 7 from noon-6 p.m. in the new Westbrook Music Building at 10th and Q streets in Lincoln.
This free event is open to clarinet and saxophone players from middle school through college, as well as music educators interested in exploring the performance and pedagogy of single reed instruments. Advanced registration is required. Please visit https://go.unl.edu/reedday for more information and the registration link. Masterclass and recital spots are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to those who complete their reservation by Sept. 1.
Single Reed Day is co-hosted by Ron and Carol Cope Professor of Music (Clarinet) Diane Barger and Associate Professor of Saxophone Ora Paul Haar. Guest artists include Deborah Bish, associate professor of clarinet at Florida State University, and the Nebraska Saxophone Project Quartet, which includes Haar, Daniel Oshiro, Wade Howles and Bob Fusion.
Participants will engage in instrument-specific sessions, including All-State audition preparation (classical and jazz), masterclasses and performance opportunities.
“Whether attending as a performer or observer, all attendees will enjoy hands-on experiences and a full day of learning, collaboration, and inspiration,” Barger said.
