Tickets available now for John Waters live at the Rococo

Lincoln, Neb.--The Ross Media Arts Center and The Friends of The Ross present John Waters’ one man show “This Filthy World” live at the Rococo Theatre (140 North 13th St. in Lincoln) on Thursday, April 23 at 7 p.m.  The Ross is presenting a retrospective of 10 films directed by John Waters beginning on Friday, April 15.  More information can be found at www.theross.org.

Carson School's Howard is national finalist for Kennedy Center's national theatre festival

Lincoln, Neb.--Bryan Howard, a senior English, Theatre Arts and Human Behavior (Interdisciplinary Studies) major in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film from Howell, New Jersey, has been selected as one of four national fellows in dramaturgy at the National Festival of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.

University Theatre presents Thornton Wilder's 'The Skin of Our Teeth'

Lincoln, Neb.--University Theatre, the academic year production program in the Johnny Carson School of Theatre & Film at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, opens it spring season with the Thornton Wilder classic, "The Skin of Our Teeth." Performances are in the Howell Theatre, first floor of the Temple Building, 12th & R, March 5, 6, 7 and 11, 12, 13, 14 at 7:30 p.m. and March 15 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available from the Lied Center Ticket Office, 301 N. 12th, Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or at (402) 472-4747 and one hour prior to curtain in the Temple Lobby.

The Friends of the Ross present John Waters live at the Rococo Theatre on April 23

Lincoln, Neb.--The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center and The Friends of The Ross present John Waters’ one man show, “This Filthy World,” live at the Rococo Theatre on Thursday, April 23 at 7 p.m.

The Rococo Theatre is located at 140 N 13th St. in Lincoln.

John Waters’ one-man show is a “vaudeville” act that celebrates the film career and obsessional tastes of the man William Burroughs once called “The Pope of Trash.”

Madsen nominated for Helen Hayes Award for set design

Lincoln, Neb.--Assistant Professor of Theatre J.D. Madsen has received a nomination for Outstanding Set Design for the play “Sex With Strangers” at the Signature Theatre in Washington, D.C., in the Helen Hayes Awards.

He is one of five designers up for the award in the Hayes Production category, which recognizes productions in the fully professional theatre companies. The awards will be announced on April 6.

Theatrix presents 'The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)'

Lincoln, Neb.--Theatrix, a student-run theatre company within the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, will continue its 2014-2015 season with the play The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield. Brittanie Witter, an undergraduate Theatre Directing and Management major, will direct. Performances are February 26, 27 and 28 at 7:30 p.m. and March 1 at 2 p.m. in the Lab Theatre, third floor of the Temple Building at 12th & R Streets. Tickets are a flat rate of $6.

Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Johnny Carson School of Theatre & Film and the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center welcome UNL Carson School alumnus Tory Lenosky, producer of LOITERING WITH INTENT, for a post-screening Q & A on Wednesday, Feb. 11. The screening begins at 7:10 P.M. at The Ross, 13th & R Streets. Admission is $9.75 adults, $7.75military and senior citizens, $6.75 members and students with a valid UNL ID are free. Carson School's Howard wins 1st Place in KCACTF Regional Student Dramaturgy Competition

Lincoln, Neb.--Bryan Howard, a senior English, Theatre Arts and Human Behavior (Interdisciplinary Studies) major in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film from Howell, New Jersey, won first place in the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas/Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (LMDA/KCACTF) Student Dramaturgy competition at the Region V festival in Minnesota in January.

Arts & Architecture look for new Cast Ambassadors at Open Casting Calls

Lincoln, Neb.— The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts and the College of Architecture are inviting all undergraduate students to audition for the 2015-2016 Arts & Architecture Cast on Feb. 20 and 27 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 17. The students who are selected will serve as brand ambassadors for the college. Cast ambassadors will promote pride and develop awareness of the college and its academic programs through social media, printed materials and special appearances.
