Carson School alumnus Tousley is an assistant set designer for new Disney 'Frozen' production

Lincoln, Neb.--Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film alumnus David Tousley (M.F.A. 2015), is an assistant set designer on the new stage production of “Frozen,” which opens next summer at the Hyperion Theatre at Disney’s California Adventure theme park.

He began working on the project last spring after making an earlier connection with designer Robert Brill.

Nebraska Masquers presents Temple of Terror haunted house

Lincoln, Neb.--Nebraska Masquers, an RSO of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will produce its annual Temple of Terror haunted house. Temple of Terror: Nightmare on R Street will be open from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31.

Tickets are $5 per person, or $3 per person if you are with a group of five or more people. Temple of Terror: Nightmare on R Street will lead visitors on a tour of the rooms and theaters located on the third floor of the Temple Building on UNL's city campus. The Temple Building is located at 12th and R St.

Carson School alumnus Jeffery wins Louisiana Film Prize

Lincoln, Neb.--“The Bespoke Tailoring of Mister Bellamy,” a short film directed and produced by Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film alumnus Alexander Jeffery received $50,000 as the grand prize winner of the Louisiana Film Prize.

Twenty filmmaker finalists competed for the cash prize for a 15-minute film. According to founder Gregory Kallenberg, it’s the largest award for a short film in the world.

Lincoln, Neb.—Paul Steger announced on Monday that he will be stepping down as Director of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, effective June 30, 2016, and will return to the faculty next Fall.

Lincoln, Neb.--The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts is seeking applications for the 19th annual Nebraska Young Artist Awards.

The awards recognize 11th-grade students from Nebraska who are gifted and talented in the areas of visual art, dance, music, theater, and film and new media. These students exemplify the pinnacles of creativity in one of the fine and performing arts.

University Theatre opens season with "Dancing at Lughnasa"

Lincoln, Neb.--University Theatre opens its 2015-2016 in October with Brian Friel’s “Dancing at Lughnasa.”
    
Performances are Oct. 8-9 and 13-17 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 11 and 18 at 2 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, located on the first floor of the Temple Building.

Director Laura Lippman describes “Dancing at Lughnasa” as a “memory play,” told through the narrator, Michael, who was once a part of the world he describes, but has since escaped.

Lincoln, Neb.--Comedian and former “Seinfeld” writer Pat Hazell will present the next Carson Lecture on Friday, Sept. 25.

Hazell’s Carson Lecture will be at 3:30 p.m. in Howell Theatre, which is located on the first floor of the Temple Building, on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s City Campus at 12th and R sts. Theatrix opens season with 'Facing East'

Lincoln, Neb,--Theatrix, a student-run theatre company within the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, will begin its season with the play "Facing East" by Carol Lynn Pearson.

Chadwick Taylor, a second-year MFA directing student at UNL, will be directing the play.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1, 2 and 3, and at 2 p.m. Oct. 4 in the Lab Theatre third floor of the Temple Building.
