UNL MFA Student wins National SPE Conference Scholarship
Chadric Devin, a second-year Master of Fine Arts student in photography from Cole Camp, Mo., has received a 2014 Society for Photographic Education (SPE) Student Award to attend the national conference in Baltimore in March.

Capstone Exhibition begins Dec. 13 at UNL
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Department of Art and Art History presents the work of this semester's graduating seniors in the "Capstone Exhibition" Dec. 13-20 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.
A closing reception will be held on Friday, Dec. 20 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

The UNL Clay Club's Winter Sale and Raffle will take place on Friday, Dec. 13 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 118.

Department of Art and Art History launches Art at Cedar Point class and residency
The Department of Art and Art History has announced an opportunity for students to take an art class at Cedar Point Biological Station near Ogallala, Neb., during the summer. They are also coordinating an artist in residence program at Cedar Point. Both will begin next summer.View Article

Visiting Artist Nov. 21: Jamie Burmeister
Visiting artist Jamie Burmeister will present a free public lecture on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15.
Burmeister’s “vermin.me” project has resulted in more than 520 installations of small ceramic figures, called vermin, in 22 states and 20 countries.

UNL Art and Art History Senior has work accepted into national exhibition
Adrian Armstrong, a senior studio art major from Omaha, Neb., had three pieces accepted into the Soo Visual Arts Center’s juried exhibition “Untitled 10.”
The exhibition opens Dec. 6, 2013, and continues through Jan. 11, 2014, at the gallery, located in Minneapolis, Minn. Jurors Heid E. Erdrich and Jennifer Phelps selected 25 artists out of more than 200 applicants for the exhibition this year.
“I was ecstatic,” Armstrong said. “I wasn’t expecting to get in, so when they told me I was in, I was just jumping for joy. It was crazy.”

Fritz, Gawel to discuss photos of John Pfahl
Art and photography historian Dana Fritz will join photography scholar Larry Gawel to give a presentation at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Sheldon Museum of Art on the photographs of John Pfahl.Pfahl, whose works are featured in the museum's "Points of View" exhibition, was a pioneer in the transformation of American landscape photography in the 1970s, and his body of work has influenced generations of artists.

Two Exhibitions open Nov. 8 at UNL's Eisentrager-Howard Gallery
Two exhibitions open Nov. 8 and continue through Nov. 22 at the Department of Art and Art History’s Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. The exhibitions will have an opening reception on Friday, Nov. 8 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery.Both exhibitions were organized by Assistant Professor of Practice Marissa Vigneault’s students from her The Body in Modern and Contemporary Art class.

Clare Twomey to present free public lecture Nov. 11
British artist Clare Twomey will present a free public lecture on Monday, Nov. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15.
Twomey is a research fellow at the University of Westminster. Over the past 12 years, she has exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Tate, Crafts Council, Museum of Modern Art Kyoto Japan, the Eden Project and the Royal Academy of Arts.
