Souto Featured in Drawing Magazine
Associate Professor of Art Francisco Souto is featured in the current Winter 2014 issue of Drawing Magazine in an article about his work titled “In Search of Lost Time, Pencil in Hand.”
Drawing Magazine is the premier, national, quarterly publication focused entirely on drawing. The magazine explores technique and materials, but also reviews contemporary artists such as Antony Gormley, Kiki Smith, Chuck Close, Amy Cutler and now Souto.

Medici Event Was a Great Success
MEDICI, a friends group that supports the Department of Art and Art History at University of Nebraska–Lincoln held its annual fund-raiser event on Thursday, Feb. 27 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery.
Since its inception 21 years ago, MEDICI has raised more than $200,000 for the department. Donated funds have been used to bring visiting scholars to the campus and to purchase kilns, presses, papermaking equipment, catalogs and other amenities that contribute to the first-rate educational offerings for UNL students.

UNL Print Sale Feb. 7-8 at Constellation Studios
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Department of Art and Art History and Lincoln Print Group are holding a Print Sale on Feb. 7-8 at Constellation Studios, 2055 O St. in Lincoln.
Hours for the sale are Feb. 7 from 5-9 p.m. and Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Original etchings, woodcuts, lithographs and screen prints, as well as hand-printed t-shirts and Valentines, will be available for sale. There will also be a raffle of faculty and graduate work.

Lecture rescheduled due to weather
Dona Nelson's artist lecture has been rescheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 5th in Richards Hall 218.
Dona Nelson, a painter and professor of painting and drawing at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, will present a free public lecture on Tuesday, February 4, at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15 on the UNL city campus.

Christin Mamiya named interim director of Sheldon Museum of Art
Christin J. Mamiya, associate dean of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has been named interim director of the Sheldon Museum of Art. She will assume her new duties Feb. 2.
Mamiya replaces Jorge Daniel Veneciano, who resigned in December to become director of El Museo del Barrio in New York. Veneciano, who has directed Sheldon since 2008, will end his tenure at UNL on Feb. 1.

'Emulsion' Opens Jan. 17 at UNL's Eisentrager-Howard Gallery
"Emulsion," featuring works by Amy Smith and Simon Levin, will be on display Jan. 17-28 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.
A reception will be held on Friday, Jan. 24 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

UNL MFA Student wins National SPE Conference Scholarship
Chadric Devin, a second-year Master of Fine Arts student in photography from Cole Camp, Mo., has received a 2014 Society for Photographic Education (SPE) Student Award to attend the national conference in Baltimore in March.

Capstone Exhibition begins Dec. 13 at UNL
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Department of Art and Art History presents the work of this semester's graduating seniors in the "Capstone Exhibition" Dec. 13-20 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.
A closing reception will be held on Friday, Dec. 20 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

The UNL Clay Club's Winter Sale and Raffle will take place on Friday, Dec. 13 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 118.

Department of Art and Art History launches Art at Cedar Point class and residency
The Department of Art and Art History has announced an opportunity for students to take an art class at Cedar Point Biological Station near Ogallala, Neb., during the summer. They are also coordinating an artist in residence program at Cedar Point. Both will begin next summer.View Article
