Clay Club and Print Group hold spring sales

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Clay Club and the Lincoln Print Group will hold their annual Spring Sales and Raffles on April 26-27 in Richards Hall Rm. 118 and 121 respectively on the UNL city campus.

Hours for the sales are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 26 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.

Art historian excels with Hixson-Lied opportunities

Anne Rimmington, a junior from Wichita, Kan., was trying to decide between attending the University of Kansas and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The deciding factors were a Hixson-Lied College Freshman Scholarship and the opportunities in her area of study.

More than 47 works were accepted for the fourth Heart & Hands National Juried Book Art Exhibition for Students, now on display at UNL's Love Library through May 31.

Heart & Hands national juried book art exhibition

Heart & Hands 2013: A Fourth National Juried Book Art Exhibition for Students” is on display now through May 31 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Love Library on the city campus.

The exhibition will also be on display Oct. 11-Nov. 14, 2013, at UNO’s Criss Library.

Visiting artist James Siena to present free lecture

New York-based artist James Siena will present a free public lecture on Thursday, April 18 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sheldon Museum of Art's Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium, 12th and R streets, on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln city campus. His visit is sponsored by the Department of Art and Art History and made possible through a grant from the Hixson-Lied Endowment.

Final MFA Thesis opens April 15

Graduate students Sam Berner, Gregory Scott Cook and Jacob Francois in the UNL Department of Art and Art History will present their MFA Thesis Exhibitions April 15-19 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.

Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30 p.m. A closing reception will be held on Friday, April 19 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery.

Fritz receives photography Imagemaker Award

University of Nebraska–Lincoln Professor of Photography Dana Fritz received the Society for Photographic Education’s Imagemaker Award at their March 7-10 conference in Chicago.

The award goes to an artist presenting for the first time as an imagemaker at the SPE national conference, who shows exceptional promise and outstanding achievement, evidenced by a high ranking by the peer review panel.

Ceramics grad student organizes Art Block April 5

Sam Berner, a third-year ceramics graduate student in the Department of Art and Art History, began his plans with a site-oriented sculptural space called “Greenroom.” The project has since grown exponentially to Art Block, a special First Friday art event that he calls “a giant interactive art event.”

Souto invited for residency at Wichita State

University of Nebraska–Lincoln Associate Professor of Art Francisco Souto has been invited to serve as the inaugural Seward Memorial Guest Artist at Wichita State University (WSU). He will be in residence from April 1-7.

The Seward Memorial Guest Artist program invites a nationally and internationally recognized artist to spend a week as an artist-in-residence, working with students and faculty in the creation of a limited edition fine art print.
