The exhibition will also be on display Oct. 11-Nov. 14, 2013, at UNO’s Criss Library.

Graduate and undergraduate students from accredited academic institutions were able to submit books for the exhibition. Fifty-six artists submitted 82 works for the juried exhibition, and 47 works were accepted for the exhibition. The accepted works came from students in 18 states and Canada.

Four students from UNL were accepted for the show: Jamie Aldag, a senior art major from Lincoln, Neb.; Mikaela Davis, a senior art major from Lincoln, Neb.; Camille Hawbaker, a graduate printmaking student from Eagan, Minn.; and Adrienne Smart, a graduate printmaking student from Sandy, Utah.

Hawbaker also received the Award for Experiential Engagement of the Viewer and Purchase Award for her entry, “Beyond, Between.”

This year’s juror was Barbara Tetenbaum, an artist working in printed books and installation and professor at Oregon College of Art and Craft. She founded her imprint, Triangular Press, in 1979, and this work can be found in many private and public collections in the U.S. and abroad. She is the recipient of two Fulbright Lecture awards to teach in Germany and the Czech Republic.

Her other honors include a Koopman Distinguished Chair at the Hartford Art School in 2012 and a Sally Bishop Fellowship at the Book Arts in New York City in 2011. She received her Bachelor of Science in fine art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Heart & Hands 2013 is sponsored by the Lincoln Print Group, the UNL Department of Art and Art History, Love Library and the Nebraska Book Arts Center.
