Alum May returns for guest artist performance

LINCOLN, Neb.— Saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer/arranger Nicholas May has been recognized as an outstanding musician from a young age, picking up the saxophone at age 10 and soon performing with honor groups. May will perform as a guest artist on Tuesday, September 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall. 

A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, he has won or been a finalist in numerous state, national, and international competitions including the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition, Nebraska Music Teachers Association Young Artist Competition-Woodwind Division, Singapore Woodwind Festival-Saxophone Division, University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Undergraduate Concerto Competition, MTNA Young Artist and Chamber Music Competitions, and the Arapahoe Philharmonic Orchestra’s Young Artist Completion.

May is an adjunct instructor at Mid-Plains Community College in McCook, Nebraska where he teaches applied clarinet and saxophone lessons. He received his master’s of music at the University of Kansas and his bachelor’s of music at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

This concert is free and open to the public and is proudly presented by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Saxophone Studio.
