LINCOLN, Neb.— The UNL Symphonic Band presents the program titled “Motion” on Tuesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. Under the baton of Graduate Conductor Rubén D. Gómez, the concert features different ways in which composers have used motion as a way of inspiration. From folk dances to portrayals of animals and places, join us to hear band classics by Malcolm Arnold, Richard Wagner, Paul Hindemith, and Norman Dello Joio, as well as new and modern pieces by Shafer Mahoney, Karel Husa, and Adam Gorb.

The Symphonic Band has the distinction of being the band program’s top symphonic ensemble. Its select mission is to provide instrumentalists with an opportunity to demonstrate and develop the techniques and musical instincts appropriate to a symphonic setting. With an emphasis on the distinctive characteristics of the large wind and percussion ensemble, the Symphonic Band’s repertoire is culled from the rich resources of the wind band tradition.

Tickets are Adults $5; Students/Seniors $3.
