Join UNL Jazz Orchestra and Big Band for ’A View from the Side’

LINCOLN, Neb.— This University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Jazz Orchestra and Big Band “A View from the Side” performance at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 15 in Kimball Recital Hall will feature inventive arrangements of classic jazz standards as well as new works that will excite the listener through their inventive use of color, rhythm and harmony. This program will include works and arrangements by Jack Cooper, Bill Holman, Tom Matta, Gary Lindsey, Donald Brown, Paul McKee and others.

Directed by Dr. Paul Haar, the Jazz Orchestra is the university’s showcase jazz organization and one of the Glenn Korff School of Music’s most visible performing groups. This versatile ensemble performs all styles of music from Duke Ellington to the contemporary artists of today.

Directed by Andrew Janak, the Big Band is a vital component of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln jazz curriculum. UNL Big Band is specifically designed to motivate and inform music educators and aspiring teachers through innovative programming and pedagogical methods.
