The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Harp Studio presents a recital on March 15 at 5:30 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall.  Please join the UNL Harp Studio to enjoy beautiful harp music, discover the fascinating history of the harp, and experience some of the many sound colors and effects possible on this glorious instrument.

The music of Welsh, French and Spanish composers will be featured in the recital. Solo performances will include the lively Basque Dance, “Viejo Zortico” by Jesus Guridi,  “The Minstrel’s Adieu to His Native Land” by John Thomas, and Claude Debussy’s “Sacred and Profane Dances”.  An informal demonstration of the special effects possible on harp will be showcased by a performance of Carlos Salzedo’s “Chanson Dans la Nuit”.  The UNL harp trio will also perform a variety of selections, culminating in “Great Day” by Nancy Gustafson.  All UNL Alumni harpists are invited to join in this performance of “Great Day”.  A rehearsal will take place just prior to the recital, and both pedal and lever harp parts are available.  Alumni interested in joining the ensemble should contact Mary Bircher mbircher2@unl.edu.
