LINCOLN, Neb.— Join the Wind Ensemble, conducted by Prof. Tony Falcone, for their program titled, Imaginary Ballet on Wednesday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The concert features Dreamcatcher by Walter Mays and the Frank Pappajohn transcription of Percy Aldridge Grainger’s ambitious large-scale work, The Warriors. Also, Daniel Oshiro will perform the Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Wind Orchestra by Ingolf Dahl as winner of the UNL Concerto Competition.

"I am so honored to have been picked as one of the Concerto Competition winner,” Oshiro said. “Not a day goes by that I don't appreciate the opportunities that are presented here at UNL. I have been working with the Wind Ensemble for around a month on this Dahl Concerto and what an experience it has been! Lots of music making and tons of personal growth is happening. Having the chance to rehearse with a group like this is a rare treat for me and (hopefully) everyone involved! There has been lots of time and devotion invested on all ends into this work and I hope to deliver the solo part with the respect and justice this piece deserves! I look forward very much to the concert!"

The Wind Ensemble is the university’s premiere concert band. Its select mission is to provide instrumentalists of advanced technical proficiency a pre-professional ensemble experience. With an emphasis on contemporary American compositions, the Wind Ensemble’s repertoire reflects the most recent technical and textural innovations, as well as the rich tradition of wind and percussion music extending back to the Renaissance.

Tickets are Adults $5; Students/Seniors $3. This performance will also be live webcast.
