ChamberFest, Honors ChamberFest Concerts coming at end of April

Reception to honor Chiara String Quartet following Friday performance

LINCOLN, Neb.— Groups formed at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music perform at ChamberFest and Honors ChamberFest performances during the last week of April. All of the performances are free and open to the public. It’s all part of the UNL Chamber Music program.

ChamberFest takes place on Wednesday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall.

The Honors ChamberFest Concert on Friday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall will feature student ensembles from the UNL Chamber Music Program that have been chosen by audition to perform on the program. The concert will include Beethoven’s Piano Trio, Op. 1 No. 3 in c minor, Smetna’s fiery Piano Trio in G minor, Schnittke’s enigmatic String Quartet No. 3 and the monumental Piano Quartet in G minor by Brahms. There will also be a reception after the concert in the lower lobby of Kimball Recital Hall honoring the Chiara String Quartet’s last season as a full-time ensemble and the members’ contribution to the Glenn Korff School of Music as a resident ensemble for the last thirteen years.

The Honors ChamberFest Concert on Saturday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. will feature student ensembles from the UNL Chamber Music Program that have been chosen by audition to perform on the program. The concert will include a Viola and Clarinet Duo by Rebecca Clarke, Fairy Tales by Robert Schumann, The Planets arranged for Piano Duo by Gustav Holst, Fantasia in F minor for four-hands by Franz Schubert, and String Serenade by Ernő Dohnány.
