Olschofka, Kwon to perform at First Friday at IQM

Olschofka, Kwon to perform at First Friday at IQM

Lincoln, Neb.--Glenn Korff School of Music Director Felix Olschofka, violin, and pianist Sohee Kwon will perform on Friday, Aug. 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the International Quilt Museum at 1523 N. 33rd St. as part of First Friday at the museum. The performance is free and open to the public.

The duo will perform classical works including pieces by Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, George Gershwin and more. The performance includes the world premiere of “Dokkaebi (도깨비) for Violin and Piano” by Joseph Martin Waters.

Olschofka, who is also professor of violin, came to Nebraska from the University of North Texas College of Music, where he was associate dean for operations and professor of violin. He has toured as a soloist, concertmaster and chamber musician throughout Europe, Asia, North America and South America. 

Award-winning Korean pianist Kwon has been rapidly advancing her career throughout the U.S. and is acclaimed for her artistry, exquisite pianism and profound sensitivity. She has garnerned top honors in major international competitions.

First Fridays are free events held on the first Friday of each month. Free access to the International Quilt Museum galleries is available from 4-7 p.m.
