Amicitia Duo performs ‘Play Pretty’ on Sept. 12

Lincoln, Neb.--A birthday, an anniversary and more than 30 years of friendship will be celebrated when the Amicitia Duo performs a recital titled Play Pretty on Sept. 12.

The Amicitia Duo includes Glenn Korff School of Music Professor of Clarinet Diane Barger and University of Alabama at Birmingham Professor of Clarinet Denise Gainey. The duo will be joined by Hixson-Lied Professor of Piano Mark Clinton.

Cornhusker Marching Band makes debut Aug. 31

Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's 299-member Cornhusker Marching Band makes its 2019 debut Aug. 31 at Memorial Stadium with pregame and halftime performances during the football season opener against South Alabama.

In honor of the university’s 150th anniversary this year, all halftime shows will carry themes related to “In Our Grit, Our Glory.”

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Cornhusker Marching Band Exhibition Performance will take place starting at 7 p.m., Friday, August 23 in Memorial Stadium.

You’ll see highlights of what the Cornhusker Marching Band has been working on during their pre-season Band Camp, including the famous “drill down,” a preview of the first halftime show and hear many more Husker favorites.

Koch named as Assistant Professor of Bassoon at the GKSOM

Dr. Nathan Koch is the newly-appointed Assistant Professor of Bassoon and Music Theory at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music and the newest member of the resident faculty woodwind ensemble, the Moran Woodwind Quintet.

“I am incredibly excited and honored to join the wonderful faculty of the Glenn Korff School of Music,” Koch said, “and I look forward to working with the amazing young musicians within the program to help them reach their full potential.”

GKSOM faculty, students plan travel, collaborations in South Korea

Interdisciplinary and globally impactful collaborations can change mindsets, which brings understanding and creativity to audiences throughout the world. What started as a partnership with University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music faculty members Karen Becker (cello) and Hye-Won Hwang (dance) will be taken to another level as they embark with a few GKSOM students to South Korea this month.
