Emily Griffin Overocker

Senior Director of Student Success

As the Senior Director of Student Success, Emily works with college leadership to articulate and implement a vision for student success that responds to the unique needs of fine and performing arts students, embraces diversity and fosters inclusive excellence. She provides leadership for professional staff focused on the recruitment of and the holistic support for undergraduate students, including the areas of scholarships, the implementation and management of professional academic advisors, response to student crises and oversight of emergency funding, and consultation and support for faculty related to student support issues. Emily also partners with college leadership to develop cohort-based programs and other initiatives aimed at increasing enrollment, including the new Global Arts Academy with Global Affairs. She is also the liaison to our campus partners, including Student Affairs and Academic Services and Enrollment Management.

Emily came to the Hixson-Lied College from the College of Engineering, where she was Senior Director of Student Services. She has extensive experience in student success during her more than 20 years of experience in higher education. She is also a University of Nebraska–Lincoln alumna, having received an M.A. in Higher Ed Administration before earning a Ph.D. in Adult and Higher Education from the University of Oklahoma.
