UNL's Murray to present AIA Lecture Nov. 4
Lincoln, Neb.—University of Nebraska–Lincoln Assistant Professor of Classics and Religious Studies Sarah Murray will present the first lecture on archaeology for the 2015-2016 season for the Lincoln-Omaha Society of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA).Murray’s lecture, titled “From Lithographs to Holograms: The History of Images in Archaeological Research,” will be presented on Nov. 4 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Two exhibitions on display at Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in November
Lincoln, Neb.—Two exhibitions will be on display in November at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.On display in the west and center galleries will be “Nebraska’s Best: High School Artists from Southeast Nebraska.” The exhibition runs Nov. 6-24. A First Friday reception will be held on Nov. 6 from 6-8 p.m. Three awards of merit will be announced at 7 p.m.
Thirty-four students from high schools throughout southeast Nebraska will have their work on display.

Johnson returns to UNL for Alumni Masters Week
Lincoln, Neb.--Garth Johnson returns to campus in November as part of the Alumni Masters Week, Nov. 4-6, sponsored by the Nebraska Alumni Association, Scarlet Guard and the UNL Chancellor’s Office.Johnson will present a free public lecture on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 5:30 p.m. in Woods Art Building Rm. 11.
Johnson is curator of ceramics at the Arizona State University Art Museum in Tempe. He previously served as the Curator of Artistic Programs at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, and spent seven years as a professor at College of the Redwoods in Eureka, California.

UNL Ceramics alum LaBar wins 1st place grant from Groot Foundation
Lincoln, Neb.--UNL Ceramics alum Ryan LaBar (MFA 2010) has received a 1st place grant from the Virginia A. Groot Foundation for his work.“Ryan was a talented and energetic student who approached his work with a great deal of passion,” said Department of Art and Art History Chair Pete Pinnell. “He has developed his career with the same sense of passion. I’m delighted, but not surprised, to see him receiving this kind of recognition so early in his career.”

Visiting Artist Stella Ebner to lecture Oct. 22
Lincoln, Neb.--The Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Series welcomes printmaker Stella Ebner to UNL on Oct. 21-23.Ebner will present a free public lecture on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15.
Ebner received her BFA from the University of Minnesota and her MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Exhibitions of her work include: the Bronx Museum of Arts, the International Print Center New York (New York City) and the Print Center (Philadelphia), Kala Art Institute (Berkeley), and SFMOMA Artists Gallery (San Francisco).
