Lincoln, Neb.--The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts announces the 2021 recipients of our Honors Day awards. While we are unable to gather in person for our annual Honors Day Awards dinner, we recognize all of these outstanding students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Clay Club sale returns May 8 at Lux Center

Lincoln, Neb.— The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Clay Club will hold their spring sale on Saturday, May 8 at LUX Center for the Arts. The sale will feature work made by School of Art, Art History & Design graduate and undergraduate ceramics students.

Hours for the sale are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the LUX Center, which is located at 2601 N. 48thSt. in Lincoln. Admission is free.

Creative Coder Ferriss presents next IGNITE

Lincoln, Neb.--Artist and creative coder Adam Ferriss will present virtually at the next IGNITE colloquium.

Ferriss’s presentation will be on Friday, April 23 at 12:30 p.m. via Zoom. The presentation is free and open to the public. Access IGNITE at https://go.unl.edu/ignitespring. Ferriss will be giving attendees a tutorial on Spark AR, an augmented reality software used to make face filters for Instagram and Facebook.

Statewide High School Invitational Exhibition is online

Lincoln, Neb.--For the past 23 years, the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts has celebrated the talent and creative potential of high school juniors across the state in the categories of visual art, dance, music, theatre, and film and emerging media arts via the annual Nebraska Young Artist Awards.

UNL Jazz groups close season with ‘At the End of the Day’

The Jazz Orchestra and the Jazz Singers round out the 2020-21 University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music season with “At the End of the Day”, a concert about looking back while looking forward on April 27 at 7:30 p.m. live from Kimball Recital Hall. There is no in-person audience, however the event will be live webcast at music.unl.edu.

UNL Symphony Orchestra closes out year with ‘Articles of Faith’

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s Symphony Orchestra will present “Articles of Faith” on April 29 at 7:30 p.m. from Kimball Recital Hall. No in-person audience, but the performance will be live streamed.

The program opens with Herbert Haufrecht’s festive Symphony for Brass and Timpani. Also featured is Charles Ives’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Symphony No. 3 “The Camp Meeting”, a work based on old American hymn tunes. Closing out the program is Felix Mendelssohn’s dramatic and triumphant Symphony No. 5, “Reformation.”

Final Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture this spring features visual artist Lawrence

Lincoln, Neb.—Visual artist Annette Lawrencewill present the Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture on Wednesday, April 21 at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom. Her lecture, which is the final lecture in the spring series, is presented by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design.

UNL Dance program takes exciting step to Lied Center main stage performance

This year’s University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music dance program’s Evening of Dance concert will take place on the Lied Center’s Main Stage. There will be one performance only, with a live audience, on Wednesday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. The event will also be livestreamed from the Lied Center website.
