Lincoln, Neb.--Jack Snider, who served as director of bands/marching band and professor of French horn at UNL from 1950-1986, died Feb. 20 of natural causes. He was 93.

UNL Opera’s, A Wedding, coming to Kimball Recital Hall

LINCOLN, Neb.— UNL Opera will be hosting A Wedding on Friday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. and again on Sunday, March 1 at 3 p.m. Both of the performances will take place in Kimball Recital Hall.

A Wedding is a comic opera based on Robert Altman’s 1978 film and was composed by William Bolcom, who served as the inaugural appointee to the Ariel Bybee Endowed Visiting Professor of Opera at the Glenn Korff School of Music.

Faculty Jazz Ensemble performance moved to Westbrook Recital Hall

LINCOLN, Neb.— The upcoming Faculty Jazz Ensemble performance scheduled for March 9 at 7:30 p.m. has been moved to the Westbrook Recital Hall. The event will also be live webcast and is free and open to the public.

University Singers join with Abendmusik for Duruflé’s Requiem

Lincoln, Neb.--Join Abendmusik for a Midday Soireé combining performances of Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, sung by the University Singers from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music with the Abendmusik Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Peter Eklund, and Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for Organ, Strings and Timpani with organ soloist Tom Trenney, under the direction of conductor Jeremy Bankson. The concert is on Sunday, February 15 at 4 p.m. at First-Plymouth Church, 20th and D Streets in Lincoln. There will be a 3 p.m.

Marks to perform faculty recital Feb. 10

Lincoln, Neb.--Glenn Korff School of Music Associate Professor of Organ Christopher Marks will present his faculty recital on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall, which will feature music from both French and American composers.

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Concordia String Trio will perform works by German composer Hermann Berens, a trio in the style of early Beethoven or Mozart by Polish composer Jan Kleczynski, and the String Trio by the well-known American composer Robert Muczynski at its concert on February 12 at St. Marks On The Campus at 7:30 p.m.

Arts & Architecture look for new Cast Ambassadors at Open Casting Calls

Lincoln, Neb.— The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts and the College of Architecture are inviting all undergraduate students to audition for the 2015-2016 Arts & Architecture Cast on Feb. 20 and 27 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 17. The students who are selected will serve as brand ambassadors for the college. Cast ambassadors will promote pride and develop awareness of the college and its academic programs through social media, printed materials and special appearances.
