Upcoming Performance Postponed Until the Fall of 2015

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Kevin Hanrahan and Jamie Reimer Glenn Korff School of Music performance scheduled for February 5 in Kimball Recital Hall has been postponed until the fall semester of 2015 with a date yet to be determined.

Masters student Cohen plays with Mannheim Steamroller for TV special

LINCOLN, Neb.— Steven Cohen could barely contain his excitement over the holidays.
The second-year Glenn Korff School of Music masters student, pursuing a Master of Music in Horn Performance, had news he wanted to share but knew that he couldn’t quite let it out. But once it all came into place, a smiling Cohen finally got to share – he performed with Mannheim Steamroller on a movie special for TV and DVD for the 2015 holiday season as part of performances at Omaha’s Orpheum Theater.

Nebraska Sings event is March 21

Lied invites vocalists to apply for statewide choral event

Lincoln, Neb.--Singers from across Nebraska will unite in song March 21 as part of Nebraska Sings. The event celebrates the Lied Center for Performing Arts' 25th anniversary and the world premiere of "Let There Be Music," a newly commissioned choral work by nationally recognized composer and Nebraskan, Kurt Knecht.

All Nebraska vocalists, ages 16 and up, can apply to be part of the statewide choral celebration. Applications for individuals to participate in Nebraska Sings are being accepted through Feb. 13.

Hundreds attend UNL’s Winter Festival

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Winter Festival, a unique concert band and chamber ensemble festival for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, took over the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Westbrook Music Building and the Kimball Recital Hall the weekend of January 23-25.

Trans-Nebraska Players performance set for February 8

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Trans-Nebraska Players will perform the feature piece of their Sunday, February 8 concert in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Kimball Recital Hall at 3 p.m.: live music to the 1909 silent film, They Would Elope, starring Mary Pickford. The music was composed by Maria Newman and arranged for the Trans-Nebraska Players by Ms. Newman as well.

LINCOLN, Neb.— On Saturday, January 17, more than a thousand talented high-school musicians - singers, dancers, instrumentalists - performed for a sell-out crowd at the exquisite Lied Center for Performing Arts in Lincoln, Nebraska for the Glenn Korff School of Music’s 2015 Midwest Cup Show Choir Invitational.

UNL’s Sturm, Larson combine to perform Wildman

LINCOLN, Neb.— University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Dr. Hans Sturm’s faculty recital will feature UNL faculty jazz pianist and composer, Tom Larson on January 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Recital Hall. They will perform the music of Dr. Joan Wildman, Professor Emeritus of Jazz Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

UNL’s Celebration of American Song to honor Kurt Weill

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music is proud to present the eleventh annual Celebration of American Song on January 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. This year’s celebration honors Kurt Weill. As a composer, Weill composed hundreds of songs. His songs have been performed by Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Michael Bublé, Stevie Wonder, Patti Lupone, Kristin Chenoweth, Ella Fitzgerald, and so many others including his wife, Lotte Lenya.
