Bestul chosen as winner of Play with the Chiaras
LINCOLN, Neb.— Hattie Bestul (clarinet) was chosen as the winner of the “Play with the Chiaras” auditions. Bestul will be performing the Brahms Clarinet Quintet with the Chiara String Quartet as part of the Hixson-Lied Concert Series taking place on Friday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

Wet Ink showcases Composition program at UNL
LINCOLN, Neb.— The Composition program at the Glenn Korff School of Music presents its WET INK concert series for the Spring 2015 semester on April 8-9 in the Westbrook Recital Hall. This two-evening concert series features an especially varied and rich set of premieres from the student composers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Both nights begin at 7:30 p.m. The first night will be live webcast. Visit music.unl.edu the night of the event for the direct link. The performances are free and open to the public.

Visiting Instructor of Piano, Ono, to present solo recital in Kimball
LINCOLN, Neb.— Momoro Ono, visiting instructor of piano at the Glenn Korff School of Music, will present a solo recital on Thursday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.
The recital, free and open to the public, will include the Bach-Brahms Chaconne for the left hand, sonatas by Haydn & Schubert and Trois Mouvements de Pétrouchka, arranged by Stravinsky himself.

Glenn Korff School Cellist performing in Switzerland tour for new Machover composition
Lincoln, Neb.--Justin Lepard, a senior cello performance major in the Glenn Korff School of Music from Lincoln, Nebraska, is one of 10 ‘ensemble soloists’ that will be premiering a new work by composer Tod Machover next Fall on tour in Switzerland and again in March 2016 in a broader tour of Europe.Lepard is traveling in late March to Switzerland to work with Machover and the ensemble and to experiment with the electronic hyperinstruments that Machover’s MIT Media Lab produces to workshop the details of the new composition.

Flute Festival Day
The 29th annual Flute Festival Day, that took place March 14 in Kimball Recital Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, brought high school and college flutists plus local area teachers and band directors together for a day-long celebration of the flute, including masterclasses, performances, chamber music and flute choir.

Barnes' 'New Generations' features works by composers who span the decades
Lincoln, Neb.--Paul Barnes’ new project began last Fall when he was booked to be the convention artist for The Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers national festival (CFAMC) in Los Angeles.“They wanted me to do a solo recital featuring members of this group,” said Barnes, the Marguerite Scribante Professor of Piano in the Glenn Korff School of Music.

An Afternoon of Choirs takes over Kimball Recital Hall
LINCOLN, Neb.— An Afternoon of Choirs, featuring three choirs from the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will take center stage on Sunday, March 15 at 3 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
The event will begin with the University Women’s Chorale, conducted by Therees Hibbard, as they will be performing six pieces including Gloria by Ola Gjeilo and Zions Walls by Aaron Copland.

Chiara String Quartet to perform full concert at College of Law
