Big Red Singers take the stage on Saturday, August 22
LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s own Big Red Singers will take the stage on Saturday, August 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
The exhibition performance is a high-energy performance of singing and expert choreography. The concert is free and open to the public, but patrons are advised to come early to get the best seats. It will be a performance to remember!

North American premiere of Owens opera is Aug. 7
Lincoln, Neb.--The Glenn Korff School of Music will present the North American premiere of composer Robert Owens’ opera titled “Culture! Culture!” on Friday, Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, located on the first floor of the Temple Building at 12th and R sts.Tickets are free, but must be reserved in advance. Free tickets are available on the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film tickets website at https://go.unl.edu/theatretix. The fully staged chamber opera will be accompanied by piano.

24th season of Jazz in June concludes June 30
Lincoln, Neb.--The Sheldon Art Association, in collaboration with the Lied Center for Performing Arts and the Glenn Korff School of Music, will bring New Orleans jazz to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the 24th season of Jazz in June.
The 2015 concert series features performances by the Rad Trads, Swing Fever, UNL Faculty Jazz Ensemble, Grand Marquis and the Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet.

Nebraska Show Choir Camp takes over arts quad at UNL
The Nebraska Show Choir Camp is currently taking place at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music. More than 350 campers are currently singing, dancing and performing in many venues in the arts quad on the UNL campus. The campers come from as far away as Texas and Wisconsin.

Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts to continue
Lincoln, Neb.--A proposal to create a new Hixson-Lied College of the Arts and Architecture, a consolidation of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts and College of Architecture at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, was removed from the June agenda of the Board of Regents today, and UNL officials do not expect it to be considered in the near future.As a result, the two colleges will continue to operate in their present configurations.

UNL hosts 11th annual Chamber Music Institute
The 11th annual Chamber Music Institute, under the direction of John Bailey, is currently taking place at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Glenn Korff School of Music.
The week-long institute offers lessons in performance, composition and entrepreneurship for college students, recent college graduates and international students. All accepted participants receive a full fellowship to attend. The fellows receive coaching and composition master classes, entrepreneurship lectures as well as perform in concert.

Midwest ClariFest proves to be incredible experience
Dr. Frank Kowalsky was the main attraction at University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s 18th annual Midwest ClariFest, hosted by Dr. Diane Barger. On April 18, 2015, sixty-five clarinet students, teachers, and enthusiasts filled the Glenn Korff School of Music’s Kimball Recital Hall stage on the UNL campus to enjoy a day filled with clarinet masterclasses, lectures, and recitals.

Ehly named Earl “Pete” Jenkins Endowed Visiting Choral Artist at UNL
LINCOLN, Neb.— Dr. Eph Ehly will be joining the faculty of UNL's Glenn Korff School of Music this fall as the Earl “Pete” Jenkins Endowed Visiting Choral Artist. His duties will include directing the UNL Chamber Singers, teaching the Graduate Choral Literature and Repertoire course, and making guest appearances in the Graduate Choral Conducting course.
