Chamber Singers open season in Sheldon Museum of Art

‘Kick-Off’ concert to Jazz season; New Jazz Fronts debut
LINCOLN, Neb.— The UNL Jazz Orchestra (Dr. Paul Haar, director) and the UNL Big Band (Patrick Brown, director) will present a “Kick-Off” concert to celebrate the start of the jazz concert season in the Glenn Korff School of Music on Wednesday, October 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kimball Recital Hall. Chiara String Quartet to perform ‘Chiara Soiree’
LINCOLN, Neb.— On Friday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m., the Chiara String Quartet will be performing the second concert of the 2015-2016 Hixson-Lied Concert Series at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s Kimball Recital Hall (11th and R Streets). The program, titled Chiara Soiree, will feature Arthur Foote’s A Night Piece and Scherzo, both for flute and string quartet with flutist John Bailey; Dohnányi’s Serenade in C Major for String Trio; and Brahms’, Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34 with pianist Mark Clinton.

University Singers to perform at UNL Newman Center in mid-October
LINCOLN, Neb.— The Thursday, October 15th University Singers concert will feature many of the seminal, 20th-Century works for mixed choir, including Samuel Barber’s Agnus Dei and will take place at the UNL Newman Center – St. Thomas Aquinas Church beginning at 7:30 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public.

UNL Symphonic Band presents ‘I Raise My Song To You’
LINCOLN, Neb.— Join the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Symphonic Band, conducted by Prof. Tony Falcone, for their season debut with a program, I Raise My Song To You, on Tuesday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kimball Recital Hall.
Music by Leonard Bernstein, Christopher Nelson, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Jeff Krauklis will be featured. Craig Fuller, Professor of Tuba, will also join the Band for Libby Larsen’s Ursa for Tuba and Wind Symphony.
