An Afternoon of Choirs takes the stage on October 11
LINCOLN, Neb.— Three of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s most visible and inclusive choral ensembles—composed of both music majors and non-music majors -- Women’s University Chorale, All-Collegiate Choir and Varsity Men’s Chorus, will present a concert on Sunday, October 11 at 3 p.m. in the Glenn Korff School of Music’s Kimball Recital Hall.

UNL Symphonic Band presents ‘I Raise My Song To You’
LINCOLN, Neb.— Join the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Symphonic Band, conducted by Prof. Tony Falcone, for their season debut with a program, I Raise My Song To You, on Tuesday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kimball Recital Hall.
Music by Leonard Bernstein, Christopher Nelson, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Jeff Krauklis will be featured. Craig Fuller, Professor of Tuba, will also join the Band for Libby Larsen’s Ursa for Tuba and Wind Symphony.

Mozart, Schubert, Franck will be featured by UNL Symphony Orchestra

UNL Wind Ensemble presents ‘Unending Stream of Life’ Concert
LINCOLN, Neb.— An endangered species, a chanson by Ockeghem, a poem by Rilke, a private remark by Aaron Copland, an exclamation by a Buddhist monk, and a rare specimen of organum by Pérotin: these are the seeds of inspiration from which the music came to life. Karel Husa, Kathryn Salfelder, Morton Lauridsen, Wayne Oquin, David Maslanka, and Ron Nelson each have crafted a facet of a program that reflects the broad spectrum of the human condition.

Sturm’s recital to feature 1960s and 70s overlooked jazz gems

Chiara String Quartet’s opening concert set for September 25
LINCOLN, Neb.— On Friday, September 25, 2015 at 7:30pm, the Chiara String Quartet will be performing the first concert of the 2015-2016 Hixson-Lied Concert Series at Kimball Recital Hall (11th and R Streets). The program, titled Brahms by Heart, will include Brahms’ String Quartet Op. 51, No. 1 in C minor; his String Quartet Op. 51, No. 1 in A minor; and his String Quartet Op. 67 in B-flat Major played entirely from memory.

Collaboration key in upcoming vocal recital
LINCOLN, Neb.— University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s Jamie Reimer, soprano, and Kevin Hanrahan, tenor, will collaborate with guest pianist Matthew Larson in a vocal recital of German Lieder by Robert and Clara Schumann on Thursday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
These composers (husband and wife) are pillars in the solo vocal repertoire tradition. Repertoire includes Dichterliebe, Liebst du um Schönheit, and the Op. 78 duets.

Clinton to present Three Musical Postcards from Vienna
LINCOLN, Neb.— University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Hixson-Lied Professor of Piano Mark Clinton will present Three Musical Postcards from Vienna during his faculty recital Thursday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
“The recital represents three very distinct musical “snapshots” from Vienna (Schubert in 1823, Brahms in 1861, and Schoenberg in 1909),” Clinton said. “Each of the three works holds an important place in the canon that we call the standard piano repertoire.”
