Honors ChamberFest scheduled for April 19
LINCOLN, Neb.— On April 19, the top student chamber music groups of the UNL Glenn Korff School of Music will perform in two recitals at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall as part of Honors ChamberFest. The performances are free and open to the public.

Brazil’s Dr. Hentschke in residence this week in the Glenn Korff School of Music
Dr. Liane Hentschke from Porto Alegre, Brazil is in residence in the Glenn Korff School of Music Music Education program this week. Hentschke heads all graduate programs in music at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and is Past President of the International Society for Music Education.

Saxophone Ensembles prepare for recital in Westbrook
LINCOLN, Neb.— The Saxophone Ensembles at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music will present their spring studio recital on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Recital Hall.
This concert will feature original works and transcriptions by Bach, Hartly, Shaut, Kastner, Mintzer and Tchaikovsky. This concert is free and open to the public and will be live webcast. Visit music.unl.edu the day of the performance for the direct link.

Hendricks to host master class, Q&A in Westbrook Music Building
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music is excited to have Barbara Hendricks in the Westbrook Music Building later this week.
On Thursday afternoon, May 7, from 3:00-4:30 p.m., Ms. Hendricks will present a master class to UNL voice students in Room 119, Westbrook Music Building, with a light reception to follow.

Be inspired with a performance from the UNL Trumpet Studio
LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Trumpet Studio concert on April 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Recital Hall will feature the inspiring music of Bruce Broughton, Ronald Lo Presti and several original compositions.
The concert will also feature Danny Boy, a ballad written by English songwriter Frederic Weatherly and set to the Irish tune of the “Londonderry Air”.

Chiara final 2014-15 series concert includes Play with the Chiaras winner
LINCOLN, Neb.— On Friday, April 10, 2015 at 7:30pm, the Chiara String Quartet (Rebecca Fischer and Hyeyung Julie Yoon, violins; Jonah Sirota, viola; Gregory Beaver, cello) will perform the final concert of the 2014-2015 Hixson-Lied Concert Series at University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Kimball Recital Hall (11th and R Streets), featuring clarinetist Hattie Bestul, winner of the “Play with the Chiaras” auditions. The program will feature Mendelssohn Quartet no. 1, Op. 12 in E-flat Major, Shostakovich’s Quartet No. 5, and Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet in B minor.

Bestul chosen as winner of Play with the Chiaras
LINCOLN, Neb.— Hattie Bestul (clarinet) was chosen as the winner of the “Play with the Chiaras” auditions. Bestul will be performing the Brahms Clarinet Quintet with the Chiara String Quartet as part of the Hixson-Lied Concert Series taking place on Friday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

Wet Ink showcases Composition program at UNL
LINCOLN, Neb.— The Composition program at the Glenn Korff School of Music presents its WET INK concert series for the Spring 2015 semester on April 8-9 in the Westbrook Recital Hall. This two-evening concert series features an especially varied and rich set of premieres from the student composers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Visiting Instructor of Piano, Ono, to present solo recital in Kimball
LINCOLN, Neb.— Momoro Ono, visiting instructor of piano at the Glenn Korff School of Music, will present a solo recital on Thursday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.
The recital, free and open to the public, will include the Bach-Brahms Chaconne for the left hand, sonatas by Haydn & Schubert and Trois Mouvements de Pétrouchka, arranged by Stravinsky himself.
