Student Dance Project is Dec. 6-7 in Temple Building Lab Theatre

The 16th annual Student Dance Project, a program of original work by student choreographers in the Glenn Korff School of Music’s dance program, will have two performances on Dec. 6-7 in the Temple Building Lab Theatre on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.

1614 ‘Antiphonarium Romanum’ book donated to UNL Libraries Special Collections

Lincoln, Neb.--Karen R. Lusk has donated a copy of the book “Antiphonarium Romanum,” published in 1614 in Tournai, Belgium, to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Libraries Special Collections.

There is only one other known copy of the book, which is located at Yale University, per WorldCat, a global catalog of library collections.

It’s about time for An Evening of Cello

The Glenn Korff School of Music presents “An Evening of Cello” with student soloists and the NEBRASKA CELLO CHOIR at 5:30 p.m. on December 5 in the Westbrook Recital Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus. The cello choir will present an original piece by Peter Schickele as well as transcriptions. There’s something for everyone! And who doesn’t love the cello?! We hope to see you there! The concert is free and open to the public.

Eklund to be presented with NFHS Section IV Outstanding Music Educator award

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities Peter A. Eklund will be presented the National Federation of High Schools United States Section IV (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin) Outstanding Music Educator award at this year’s Iowa All-State Music Festival after being nominated by the Iowa High School Music Association.

It’s showtime as the Cornhusker Marching Band Highlights Concert returns to the Lied Center for Performing Arts on Wednesday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. Come experience the sights and sounds of the Pride of all Nebraska as they perform halftime shows from the 2019 season, their Pregame Spectacular and much more!

Tickets are Adults $20; Students/Seniors $10. Tickets can be purchased in advance through the Lied Center.

Large Piano Lab at GKSOM undergoes transformation

Lincoln, Neb.—The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts is seeking applications for the 23rd annual Nebraska Young Artist Awards.

The Nebraska Young Artist Awards annually recognize 11th grade students from Nebraska who are gifted and talented in the areas of visual art, dance, music, theatre, and emerging media arts. These students exemplify the pinnacles of creativity in one of the fine and performing arts.

GKSOM Faculty Jazz Ensemble to perform in Westbrook

The Glenn Korff School of Music Faculty Jazz Ensemble will perform in concert on December 2, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall. The concert will feature new music by DMA Jazz Studies student Seth Fromal, as well as band members Greg Simon, Darryl White, and Tom Larson, as well as jazz standards. The concert is free and open to the public. Members of the group are Peter Bouffard, guitar; Dave Hall, drums; Tom Larson, piano; Greg Simon, trumpet; Hans Sturm, bass; Darryl White, trumpet.

Come ‘To Sing and Dance’ with UNL Campus Orchestra

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Campus Orchestra presents “To Sing and Dance”, an evening celebrating music of lyrical beauty and rhythmic vitality on Monday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

Works will include Peter Warlock’s Capriol Suite, Edward Elgar’s Sospiri, and Leonard Bernstein’s Mambo (from West Side Story), featuring members of the UNL percussion program. Escola de Samba by Dr. Tyler White along with the American premiere of Arco Iris by DMA graduate student Rubén Gómez, will also be performed.
