Percussion Ensemble takes us to ‘Memory Palace’
LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska Percussion Ensemble’s first concert of the year, “Memory Palace”, is shaped by Christopher Cerrone’s quartet for percussion and electronics of the same name. The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27 in Kimball Recital Hall.

UNL/LPS String Project performance to take place at Park Middle School
LINCOLN, Neb.— The UNL/LPS String Project is a joint effort between the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Lincoln Public Schools. Its public concert will take place on Wednesday, November 28 at 6 p.m. at Park Middle School.

GKSOM students Niimori, Firkins recitals to be live webcast
LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music has added two Student Showcase Recitals to the webcast schedule.
First on Sunday, November 18 at 5 p.m. from Kimball Recital Hall will be Wataru Niimori. Niimori presents various styles of music: jazz (duo for oboe and piano), classical music (string quartet), dance music (electronic music) collaboration with two dancers, and film scoring. All of the music is composed by Niimori.

Change of venue for Guest Artist Carter Pann Recital
LINCOLN, Neb.— Guest Artist Carter Pann’s recital scheduled for December 4 has been moved to Kimball Recital Hall, beginning at 7:30 p.m. It was previously scheduled for Westbrook Recital Hall.

Three GKSOM brass ensembles present ‘Multiplicity’
LINCOLN, Neb.— The Glenn Korff School of Music brass ensembles concert “Multiplicity” on Monday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall showcases three of the Glenn Korff School of Music brass ensembles: The Trumpet Ensemble, directed by Dr. Darryl White; the Husker Horn Choir, directed by Dr. Alan Mattingly; and the Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, directed by Professor Craig Fuller.
Tickets are available at the door the night of the performance: General Admission $5; Students/Seniors $3.

Passing of Butterfield saddens Glenn Korff School of Music, Cornhusker Marching Band
Cornhusker Marching Band member Tyler A. Butterfield died Friday, October 26, 2018 as the result of a traffic accident in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Funeral service for Butterfield, 20, of Lincoln, formerly of Norfolk will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Norfolk with Tim DeFor officiating. Interment will be at the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements.

University of Nebraska Brass Quintet presents ‘A Lost Dream’
LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska Brass Quintet will present its fall recital titled “A Lost Dream” on November 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The title is a reference to the World Premiere of Thomas Larson’s quintet ‘Requiem for a Lost Dream’. The Requiem is a politically powerful work that reflects our divisive times. Other works on the program include Golden Suite by Henri Sauguet. The suite was commissioned by America’s original brass chamber ensemble, The New York Brass Quintet.

Musical forces combine for performance on November 11
LINCOLN, Neb.— University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s Jamie Reimer, along with Christie Beard, and Stacie Haneline will combine forces on Sunday, November 11 to present A Blonde, a Brunette, and a Redhead, a recital of chamber music for soprano, flute, and keyboard. The performance will take place at 3 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
The program features works from the 17th through 21st centuries, anchored by Henry Mollicone’s Songs of the Human Spirit, set to Native American texts.
