Lincoln, Neb.—Michaela Habe, Financial Specialist in the Department of Art and Art History, will receive a Kudos award during the March 18, 2016, meeting of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

A UNL graduate, Habe has spent her professional career at UNL. She began as a student worker and held positions in University Housing before her current role as financial specialist in the Department of Art and Art History.

Since August 2012, she has managed the business and finance operations for the department. She has worked to improve business processes, automate repetitive tasks, generate timely and useful financial reports and supports the academic and research/creative activity missions of the department and college.

In addition, Habe has offered assistance through the college merger planning process with the College of Architecture and the retirement of their business manager. She also provided additional assistance after November 2014, following the sudden death of the business manager in the Glenn Korff School of Music. Most recently, she has provided additional support for the business and finance operations of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film following the recent retirement of their accounting technician.

Her nominator, Wendy Duerfeldt Schutte, the Assistant Dean of Business and Financial Affairs for the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, wrote, “Michaela is a trust-worthy employee with high standards. She is eager to assist with any project requested. In addition, she strives for (and often achieves) excellence in her daily work. Her attitude is always upbeat and positive.”

The Kudos award is a university-wide honor presented by the Regents to celebrate staff who go above and beyond in their work for the university. Award winners are recognized at a Board of Regents meeting and given a monetary award.
