The Department of Art and Art History presents the work of this semester's graduating seniors in the BFA Capstone Exhibition Dec. 7-14 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.

A closing reception will be held on Friday, Dec. 14 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery, which is located on the first floor of Richards Hall at Stadium Drive and T streets on the UNL city campus. Gallery hours for the exhibition are Monday-Thursday 12:30-4:30 p.m. and Friday from 12:30-7 p.m. Gallery admission is free and open to the public.

Participation in the Capstone Exhibition is part of the Capstone course, where students generate a creative or scholarly product that requires broad knowledge, appropriate technical proficiency, information collection, synthesis, interpretation, presentation and reflection. Their exhibition represents students' most recent work, which is a culmination of their coursework and exploration in studio art at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

This semester's exhibition features work by 20 students.

About the artwork above:
This series of work investigates the graphical splendor created naturally by the Cuban Land Snail. As a graphic designer, I am fascinated by the tremendous variety of color and pattern exhibited across this single species. I created this series of vector illustrations from life studies, through drawings and photographs. The illustrations were made in Adobe Illustrator with layers of gradient fills and strokes. Once printed, a spot varnish was screen printed on each shell to increase contrast. Influences for this piece definitely include my love for the outdoors, especially summers spent at the seashore.    - Zachary Ubbelohde
