Once every four years, the School of Music and the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film collaborate on a large-scale musical production sponsored by the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. February 2013, we presented the regional premiere of Mary Zimmerman’s adaptation of “Candide,” Leonard Bernstein’s 1956 operetta.

“It was a feast for the eyes, the ears and the heart,” said Alisa Belflower, who directed the production.

The cast was made up entirely of University of Nebraska–Lincoln students. Prof. Tyler White conducted the student orchestra.
