calendar icon28 Feb 2014

“AT THE THRESHOLD” is an exciting collaborative performance and community engagement project that is bringing together many artistic forces to reach out to the community in one voice and raise awareness for “Doorways to Hope”; a public art collaboration between Lincoln/Lancaster County Habitat for Humanity and Hildegard Center for the Arts. The concert is scheduled for Sunday, March 9, 2014, 3 p.m. at the Sheldon Museum of Art, Great Hall.

Dr. Therees Hibbard from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music is the visionary behind “AT THE THRESHOLD” and has arranged for several performing groups to participate at the special event: Artists include the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chamber Singers (Director Therees Tkach Hibbard), UNL Dance (Associate Professor Susan Levine Ourada), NOVA -- Nebraska Organization of Vocal Artists (Director Therees Tkach Hibbard), Skyros String Quartet, NAOVA -- Nebraska Academy of Vocal Arts Children’s Choir (Director Judy Welch), and Lincoln’s new intergenerational i2choir (Director Dr. Rhonda Fuelberth).

“AT THE THRESHOLD” will feature the work of Tarik O'Regan's "The Ecstasies Above" for Chamber Choir, soloists and string quartet. A discovery of new music and new voices; (NOVA/ NAOVA) will perform together for their first time alongside Lincoln's new all inclusive and intergenerational i2choir. There will be a re-discovery of ancient music in new spaces and collaborative artistic expressions by UNL dancers; all within the non-traditional concert spaces of the Sheldon Museum of Art Great Hall -- our doorway to Modern American Art in Lincoln.

"AT THE THRESHOLD" is a free event and is presented through the UNL Glenn Korff School of Music and the Sheldon Museum of Art as part of the UNL Chamber Singers 2013-2014 Concert Series in partnership with Hildegard Center for the Arts and Lincoln/Lancaster County Habitat for Humanity.
