calendar icon02 Feb 2014

Glenn Korff School of Music's Christopher Marks will present a faculty recital of virtuosic solo organ music spanning the late 19th century to the early 21st century at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 28 in Kimball Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The program will feature music by Marcel Dupré, Kurt Knecht, Seth Bingham, and lesser known American composers. Marks is the leading expert on the music of Seth Bingham, having recorded two CDs and given numerous performances and lectures about the music. This program will include an early prelude and fugue by Bingham, influenced by his teacher, famed organist Charles-Marie Widor. Kurt Knecht holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in composition from UNL and was a recipient of the Folsom Prize for outstanding doctoral dissertation. His demanding and exciting Trois Nouvelles Ètudes, written in 2009, will be featured on this program.
