Search begins for fine and performing arts dean

Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has launched a national search to select its next dean of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. 

The recruitment advisory committee will be chaired by Shari Veil, Dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. Isaacson, Miller, a leading national executive search firm, will assist the committee with the search.

The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts includes the School of Art, Art History and Design; Glenn Korff School of Music; Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film; Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts; and Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. Affiliated units include the Lied Center for Performing Arts and Sheldon Museum of Art.

The dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the college and will lead the strategic, programmatic, financial, fundraising, and management operations that support the mission and vision of the college. The dean serves as the college's public voice, developing its reputation on the national and international stages, and within the profession. The dean reports directly to the executive vice chancellor and works with fellow deans and campus leaders in collaboration, support and commitment to the university.

Committee members include Christy Aggens, student services coordinator, School of Art, Art History and Design; Carolyn Barber, Ron and Carol Cope Professor, Glenn Korff School of Music; Megan Elliott, director, Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts; Hye-Won Hwang, assistant professor of practice, Glenn Korff School of Music; Daniel Ikpeama, doctoral student, Glenn Korff School of Music; Christina Kirk, director and professor, Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film; JD Madsen, associate professor, Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film; Hannah Mason, undergraduate student, Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film; Lance Nielsen, supervisor of music, Lincoln Public Schools and member, Hixson-Lied Advisory Board; Peter Pinnell, professor, School of Art, Art History and Design; and Hans Sturm, professor, Glenn Korff School of Music.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit nominations directly to Isaacson, Miller. Nominations should include the nominee’s name, institutional affiliation and contact information.
