UNL Department of Art and Art History hosts Alumni Exhibition

The Department of Art and Art History is hosting a special alumni exhibition this summer titled “UNL Alumni Artists, 1945-1969: Your Story Begins Here.”

The exhibition opened May 19 and continues through Aug. 15 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. The gallery will be accessible to visitors during Department of Art and Art History office hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors should come to Rm. 120 for access.

There will be two First Friday receptions for the exhibition: Friday, June 6 from 5-7 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 1 from 5-7 p.m. Both are free and open to the public.

The Department of Art and Art History solicited alumni who graduated between 1945-1969 to send artwork for the exhibition.

“We got a wonderful response to our invitation from the alums, and the three galleries are full of artwork,” said Department of Art and Art History Chair Pete Pinnell. “What’s even better is that a lot of the participants sent notes about their careers or memories, so we’ve posted those next to the artworks.”

The Department of Art and Art History intends to repeat the exhibition in future summers with different graduation dates included.

The Eisentrager-Howard Gallery is located on the first floor of Richards Hall, which is at Stadium Drive and T sts. on the UNL city campus. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.
