Lincoln, Neb.--The Johnny Manhattan Orchestra opens its season on Friday, Sept. 14. The orchestra was founded in 2016 to celebrate the great music of the Swing Era and to support the Glenn Korff School of Music's Jazz Studies program. This year’s Johnny Manhattan Orchestra includes 10 jazz studies students (5 doctoral students and 5 undergrads), six professional instrumental musicians and three professional vocalists.

The performances take place monthly during the academic year at the DelRay Ballroom, 817 R St. in Lincoln’s Haymarket. The performances are from 7-10 p.m. with doors opening at 6:15 p.m. (6 p.m. for season pass holders).

There is a $12 admission price per person (Groups of 10 or more are $10 per person). This year, season passes will be available for all nine performances, and the pass is transferable. Season pass holders will be allowed to enter 15 minutes prior to the general public. Season passes are $90, and they make good gifts, too! For information, e-mail johnnymanhattanorchestra@gmail.com to sign up. You can pay for your pass at the first performance on Sept. 14.

This season promises to be the strongest yet for the Johnny Manhattan Orchestra. The orchestra has added 33 new songs to its extensive library. No two performances will be alike.

If you haven’t been to a performance, please consider attending on Sept. 14 to see what it’s all about.
