Glenn Korff School of Music to host George Walker Festival April 5

Lincoln, Neb.--The Glenn Korff School of Music will host the George Walker Festival on Tuesday, April 5 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the composer’s birth. Walker (1922-2018) was the first African American to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music for his work “Lilacs” for voice and orchestra in 1996.

Svoboda named 2022 Alumni Master for Hixson-Lied College

Lincoln, Neb.--University of Nebraska–Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music alumnus Richard Svoboda (B.M.E. 1978) is one of eight alumni named to the 2022 class of Alumni Masters by the Nebraska Alumni Association.

Svoboda will be on campus working with students in the Glenn Korff School of Music March 31-April 1 and will be honored at the Nebraska Medallion Dinner on April 1.

UNL Wind Ensemble to premiere Kevin Day concerto at March 30 concert

Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Wind Ensemble will premiere composer Kevin Day’s “Windborne,” a concerto for horn commissioned by Glenn Korff School of Music alumnus Steven Cohen (B.A. 2014; M.M. 2015).
