World-renowned composer Philip Glass to be at the Lied Center for 'A Celebration of Philip Glass'

Lincoln, Neb.--“A Celebration of Philip Glass” will take place on Tuesday, April 17 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. The event is the culmination of a 24-year friendship between Marguerite Scribante Professor of Piano Paul Barnes and world-renowned composer Philip Glass.

“This one, special night is going to be the culmination of our entire professional relationship,” Barnes said.

Symphonic Band to perform its final program of the season, ‘Homages’

LINCOLN, Neb.— Join the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Symphonic Band, conducted by Tony Falcone with Graduate Assistant Conductor Rubén Gómez, for its final program of the season, Homages. The concert will feature the epic Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar, Mark Camphouse’s A Movement for Rosa (honoring civil rights heroine Rosa Parks) and Aaron Copland’s immortal Lincoln Portrait with Kabin Thomas, narrator. It will take place Sunday, April 22 at 3 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

Graduate Jazz Combo, Vocal Jazz Ensemble plan night of Jazz

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Glenn Korff School of Music’s Graduate Jazz Combo and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble will combine for a night of music on Tuesday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.

The Graduate Jazz Combo will perform a couple of original pieces from students Andrew Janak and Christian Chesanek as well as a couple of arrangements by students, Janak and Chris Leach, of works of Sonny Rollins and Chick Corea.
