Opera program presents 'Little Women'

Lincoln, Neb.--The Glenn Korff School of Music’s opera program will present “Little Women” on Nov. 11 and 13.

 

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13 in Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets are $20 adults and $10 students/seniors. For advance ticket sales, contact the Lied Center Box Office at (402) 472-4747. Tickets are also available online at https://go.unl.edu/oawi.

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Saxophone Studio is pleased to announce their fall saxophone ensemble concert featuring the UNL Saxophone Choir and the Lincoln-based saxophone quartet Group Sax (Paul Haar-Soprano Saxophone, Mark Benson-Alto Saxophone, Ed Love-Tenor Saxophone, Scott Vicroy-Baritone Saxophone).

BISoN iPad quintet to perform Nov. 5

Lincoln, Neb.—The composition program in the Glenn Korff School of Music will be hosting the Boulder Image and Sound Network (BISoN) ensemble from Boulder, Colorado, on Nov. 5 Directed by Hunter Ewen, BISoN is a groundbreaking, five-member quintet that performs a wild variety of music using nothing but iPads.

 

BISoN will be giving a mini concert and talkback session for composition students on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. in Westbrook Music Building Rm. 110. The event is free and open to the public.

Solo Competition Winners announced

The Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is pleased to announce the winners of the recent Solo Competition that took place over two nights in Westbrook Recital Hall.

The Graduate winners include Dimitra Kokkinopoulou, piano and Jennifer Reeves, clarinet with honorable mentions including Jennifer Son, cello and Ayaka Kondo, piano.

The Undergraduate winners include J.T. McLaughlin, euphonium and Alyssa Vrable, soprano with honorable mentions including Kate Johnson, soprano; Jonathan Vusich, piano and William White, alto trombone.

UNL Percussion Ensemble wins International Percussion Ensemble Competition

Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Percussion Ensemble is one of four university percussion ensembles to win the Percussive Arts Society’s International Percussion Ensemble Competition. They will perform in front of thousands of attendees during the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) Nov. 9-12 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Viola Studio performance coming up in early November

Tune in or attend live for performances by violists in solos and groups, including a performance by NEBratsche, the viola ensemble of the Glenn Korff School of Music on Wednesday, November 2 at 5 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall.

 

The performance will be live Webcast. Visit music.unl.edu for the direct link the night of the performance. The event is free and open to the public.

NE-NATS Student Auditions Results

The Nebraska Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NE-NATS) 2016 Student Auditions took place recently at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Students were entered in solo singing auditions. Here are the Glenn Korff School of Music results:
