Woody’s book ‘Psychology for Musicians’ is released

Lincoln, Neb.--Robert H. Woody, the Steinhart Foundation Distinguished Professor of Music and Professor of Music Education in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music, had his most recent book, “Psychology for Musicians: Understanding and Acquiring the Skills” published recently by Oxford University Press.

This 2nd edition is an update to the 2007 book he co-wrote with two other authors, Andreas C. Lehmann and John A. Sloboda.

3 Hixson-Lied College students earn Gilman scholarships

Lincoln, Neb.--Three Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts majors were among 31 University of Nebraska–Lincoln undergraduates to earn the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to support credit-bearing study abroad, internship abroad or virtual international opportunities.

Lincoln, Neb.—Glenn Korff School of Music Professor of Oboe William McMullen will present a faculty recital on Thursday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The recital is free and open to the public.

Jazz Singers perform at Jazz Education Network conference

Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s Jazz Singers were invited to perform at the Jazz Education Network Conference in Dallas, Texas, earlier this month.

The Jazz Education Network is dedicated to building the jazz arts community by advancing education, promoting performance and developing new audiences. The annual conference draws thousands from jazz beginners to experts for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Sturm’s new book is biography of influential bassist Rabbath

Lincoln, Neb.--Hixson-Lied Professor of Double Bass and Jazz Studies Hans Sturm has written a biography about François Rabbath, a French double-bass virtuoso, soloist and composer who has influenced countless bassists around the world.
