UNLSO presents Student Soloist Night

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Symphony Orchestra presents Student Soloist Night, featuring winners of the 2020-21 Undergraduate Solo Competition on March 9 at 7:30 p.m., live from Kimball Recital Hall. No in-person audience.

Mee-Hwa Roche, viola, plays Gustav Holst’s Lyric Movement for viola and small orchestra, and India Enter, cello, plays Antonio Vivaldi’s Cello Concerto in A minor, RV 421. The winner of the Graduate Solo Competition, Sanda Mašic, flute, will be featured on an upcoming UNLSO concert in Fall 2021.

Black History Month Choral Celebration, featuring University Singers, date changed

The Black History Month Choral Celebration, featuring the University Singers, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music has been rescheduled to March 4. The event was originally scheduled for Feb. 23. There will continue to be no in-person audience, but the event will still be live webcast starting at 7:30 p.m. from Kimball Recital Hall.

Go to ‘Other Places’ with UNL Jazz Orchestra and UNL Jazz Singers

LINCOLN, Neb.— The UNL Jazz Orchestra and the UNL Jazz Singers will showcase their talents with performances on March 3 beginning at 7:30 p.m. live from Kimball Recital Hall, titled “Other Places”.

The UNL Jazz Singers will open the night with three selections: Hand in Hand (Ralph Towner, arr. Dollison/Marsh); When I Fall in Love (Heyman/Young, arr. Phil Azelton); Here I Am, There I Go (J.D. Walter, arr. Kerry Marsh).

Korff School alumna named interim executive director of Nebraskans for the Arts

Lincoln, Neb.--Glenn Korff School of Music alumna Skyler Dykes (B.A. 2020) has been named interim executive director of Nebraskans for the Arts (NFTA). She replaces Doug Zbylut, who announced his retirement.

NFTA represents arts organizations and individual members across the state to advise policy makers, elected officials and community leaders on the importance of strong arts education in our schools, the economic impact of the arts in our communities and the benefits of pro-arts policies for Nebraska.

43rd Army Band of the Nebraska National Guard includes many with GKSOM ties

The 43rd Army Band of the Nebraska National Guard will perform in concert at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, 301 N. 12th St., at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31. The concert will include patriotic selections, marches and popular music performed by the 37-member concert band.

The 43rd Army Band includes numerous members who have a history with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music. Here's a list of members who have either graduated from the GKSOM, participated in ensembles at the GKSOM, or are currently attending the GKSOM:
