Harper hired as new Assistant Professor of Musicology

Paula Clare Harper, formerly a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow at Washington University in St. Louis, has been named the new Assistant Professor of Musicology in the Glenn Korff School of Music. She will teach courses in music history, ethnomusicology, and popular music, as well as special topics courses.

UNL Campus Bands present ‘Precious Gems’

The UNL Campus Bands will perform a two-part concert titled, “Precious Gems”, featuring the music of Blackshaw, Boysen, Goldman, Holsinger, Thomas, Ticheli, Tschenekov, Williams, Whitacre, and others Sunday, April 25 at 2 p.m. The event will be webcast live from Kimball Recital Hall and will be available at music.unl.edu, but no in-person audience.

Barnes to perform in New York City on April 19

Glenn Korff School of Music Marguerite Scribante Professor of Piano Paul Barnes will perform April 19 in New York City as part of the Cutting Edge Concerts New Music Festival.

His performance at 6:30 p.m. CT live in the Symphony Space in the Thalia Theater will be available free by webcast on YouTube at https://go.unl.edu/barnesconcert

“I’m tremendously excited about this trip to New York. This is the first time I will get on a plane since November of 2019. I’ve almost forgotten how to do it,” Barnes said.

Gunther becomes newest GKSOM Assistant Professor of Music in Voice

Dr. Suna Gunther is the newly-appointed Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music.

Two GKSOM choirs to perform ‘Through Love to Light’ on the Lied Center’s main stage

The two auditioned traditional mixed choirs of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music, the University Singers and the Chamber Singers, will offer an eclectic mix of choral music spanning various time periods while honoring the contributions of composers from a variety of backgrounds and identities on a one-night only performance at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts on April 13 at 7:30 p.m. The choirs will combine at the end to sing a celebratory song by Midwest composer, Elaine Hagenberg.
