‘Heavenly Voices’ highlight second Chiara series concert
LINCOLN, Neb.— On Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 7:30 p.m., the Chiara String Quartet (Rebecca Fischer and Hyeyung Julie Yoon, violins; Jonah Sirota, viola; Gregory Beaver, cello) continue their performances on 2017-2018 Hixson-Lied Concert Series at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music in Kimball Recital Hall (11th and R Streets). Kicking off 50 years of Jazz Ensembles at Nebraska

Symphony Orchestra’s Season Opener includes Flyover Country
LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Symphony Orchestra’s season opener will feature faculty member Karen Becker on cello on Sunday, October 8 at 3 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. It will include Flyover Country by Tyler White, in honor of Nebraska’s sesquicentennial; Cello Concerto No. 2 in D Major by Haydn and Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 43 by Sibelius.

Barnes to celebrate Franz Liszt’s birthday with Lisztomania
Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Chapter of the American Liszt Society and the Glenn Korff School of Music are sponsoring Lisztomania to celebrate pianist and composer Franz Liszt’s 206th Birthday.

Glenn Korff School of Music Opera ‘The Ballad of Baby Doe’ travels to North Platte
Lincoln, Neb.--The Glenn Korff School of Music’s opera program will take its touring production of “The Ballad of Baby Doe” to North Platte, Nebraska, in October thanks to the generosity of the James C. and Rhonda Seacrest Tour Nebraska Opera Fund.

Flyover New Music Series debuts its first concert October 5
LINCOLN, Neb.— The Flyover New Music Series is the new music series from the composition studio at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music. The series is administered and overseen by composition faculty and students.
The debut Flyover New Music Concert will feature six stunning new works by composers in the Glenn Korff School of Music, including three students new in the fall 2017 term. The performance will take place in Westbrook Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 5.

Wind Ensemble to open its season with festive musical array
LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Wind Ensemble in the Glenn Korff School of Music opens the season with a festive musical array inspired by William Makepeace Thackeray’s novel Vanity Fair, or Pen and Pencil Sketches of English Society on Wednesday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

Performance cancellation, date change and site change
LINCOLN, Neb.— There are a few changes to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music performance calendar for this fall.
The Darryl White performance scheduled for November 19 in Kimball Recital Hall has been canceled.
The Play with the Chiara audition scheduled for November 28 in Westbrook’s Recital Hall has been moved to October 26 at 7 p.m. in Westbrook’s Room 132.

‘When we can truly see’ features tenor Hanrahan
LINCOLN, Neb.— The Kevin Hanrahan ‘When we can truly see” performance will feature the Nebraska Premieres of Benjamin Britten’s “Fish in the Unruffled Lakes – 6 Settings of W. H. Auden” and Jonathan Dove’s “Out of Winter,” as well as Gerald Finzi’s “Till Earth Outwears” on Thursday, September 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s Kimball Recital Hall. Hanrahan will be joined by Michael Cotton on piano.
