Sturm, Allen combine for ‘Bass Meets Voice’ in Westbrook

LINCOLN, Neb.— Dr. Hans Sturm, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Professor of Double Bass, will perform a duo recital “Bass Meets Voice” with his wife, the award-winning jazz vocalist Jackie Allen on Friday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Recital Hall in the Glenn Korff School of Music.

‘Heavenly Voices’ highlight second Chiara series concert

LINCOLN, Neb.— On Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 7:30 p.m., the Chiara String Quartet (Rebecca Fischer and Hyeyung Julie Yoon, violins; Jonah Sirota, viola; Gregory Beaver, cello) continue their performances on 2017-2018 Hixson-Lied Concert Series at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music in Kimball Recital Hall (11th and R Streets). Symphony Orchestra’s Season Opener includes Flyover Country

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Symphony Orchestra’s season opener will feature faculty member Karen Becker on cello on Sunday, October 8 at 3 p.m.  in Kimball Recital Hall. It will include Flyover Country by Tyler White, in honor of Nebraska’s sesquicentennial; Cello Concerto No. 2 in D Major by Haydn and Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 43 by Sibelius.

Barnes to celebrate Franz Liszt’s birthday with Lisztomania

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Chapter of the American Liszt Society and the Glenn Korff School of Music are sponsoring Lisztomania to celebrate pianist and composer Franz Liszt’s 206th Birthday.

Lisztomania! A Birthday Celebration Franz Liszt as Poet, Pianist and Priest is Sunday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public. The concert will also be live webcast. Visit music.unl.edu the day of the concert for the link.

Flyover New Music Series debuts its first concert October 5

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Flyover New Music Series is the new music series from the composition studio at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music. The series is administered and overseen by composition faculty and students.

The debut Flyover New Music Concert will feature six stunning new works by composers in the Glenn Korff School of Music, including three students new in the fall 2017 term. The performance will take place in Westbrook Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 5.
