Performance cancellation, date change and site change
LINCOLN, Neb.— There are a few changes to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music performance calendar for this fall.
The Darryl White performance scheduled for November 19 in Kimball Recital Hall has been canceled.
The Play with the Chiara audition scheduled for November 28 in Westbrook’s Recital Hall has been moved to October 26 at 7 p.m. in Westbrook’s Room 132.

‘When we can truly see’ features tenor Hanrahan
LINCOLN, Neb.— The Kevin Hanrahan ‘When we can truly see” performance will feature the Nebraska Premieres of Benjamin Britten’s “Fish in the Unruffled Lakes – 6 Settings of W. H. Auden” and Jonathan Dove’s “Out of Winter,” as well as Gerald Finzi’s “Till Earth Outwears” on Thursday, September 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s Kimball Recital Hall. Hanrahan will be joined by Michael Cotton on piano.

Hall, Chiaras join forces for ‘aLIgNEd’
LINCOLN, Neb.— Percussionist Dave Hall and the Chiara String Quartet (Gregory Beaver, Rebecca Fischer, Jonah Sirota, and Hyeyung Yoon) will join forces for an evening of exciting and aggressive music titled “aLIgNEd” on Friday, September 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.

Potter and friends present ‘Harping on the Viola’
LINCOLN, Neb.— Clark Potter, Professor of Viola at the Glenn Korff School of Music, will be joined by harpist Kathleen Wychulis, flutist Franziska Brech and violinist David Neely to present trio works by Quincy Porter, Théodore DuBois, David Bruce, and the Sonata for Harp and Viola by Arnold Bax on Wednesday, September 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

Reimer donates composer papers of Robert Owens to University of Nebraska–Lincoln Libraries
Lincoln, Neb.--Glenn Korff School of Music Associate Professor of Voice Jamie Reimer has donated a collection of published works, concert programs and reviews, photographs and other memorabilia she received from composer Robert Owens to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Libraries. The collection, titled “Robert Owens, Composer Papers,” will reside in the Music Library in Westbrook Music Building.
“It’s overwhelming to think that a decade of a relationship has resulted in this tremendous gift,” Reimer said.

Reimer’s recital to be Homage to Robert Owens
LINCOLN, Neb.— Jamie Reimer’s recital program on September 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Kimball Recital Hall includes three American premieres of pieces written by Robert Owens in the last years of his life. The program is also scheduled between what would have been his 93rd birthday (9/19) and the tenth anniversary of Reimer and Owens first performance together (9/17), which was given on the Kimball Hall stage.

Commissions, Dedications and Premieres

Chiara String Quartet announces farewell season
The Chiara String Quartet, artists-in-residence at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Glenn Korff School of Music, announced today that 2017-18 will be its final concert season.
The group will finish performing together full time in September 2018 and characterizes its decision as one made "in a spirit of tremendous gratitude and love."
In its 18th overall season, the Chiara String Quartet has been in residence at the Korff School since 2004. Members will continue as faculty in the Korff School through the 2018-19 academic year.
