DUO explores friendship and life’s journey

LINCOLN, Neb.— DUO is an exciting musical adventure with two artists who perform literature that taps into the human spirit and mirrors everyday life. From the sensual journey of love and life through Debussy’s Ariettes Oubliées to the poetic sadness and joy evoked in Enrique Granados’ Canciones Amatorias, UNL’s Glenn Korff School of Music soprano Jamie Reimer and guest artist/pianist Stacie Haneline explore their friendship and life’s journey with you for a night of true musical connection. The performance takes place Thursday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m.

LINCOLN, Neb.— Today, twenty Glenn Korff School of Music faculty and staff are being honored for their years of service to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Chancellor Ronnie Green recognized those who have worked 40+ years at his State of the University address in the Lied Center.

LINCOLN, Neb.— The 300-member University of Nebraska-Lincoln Cornhusker Marching Band will be taking to the road this weekend to perform at halftime of the Nebraska vs. Northwestern football game in Evanston, Illinois.

Chamber Singers to perform Hear My Words Sing!

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Chamber Singers performance on Tuesday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall will be an evening of chant, motets, madrigals, and Psalms ranging from the early 1500s to the mid 1770s, with one foray into the late 20th century!

The concert begins with a Magnificat by Christobal de Morales, and concludes with an unusual and brilliant Dixit Dominus by G. F. Handel. This work features soloists and a string ensemble.

Let All Men Sing coming in early October

LINCOLN, Neb.— Men’s Choirs from the area take part in a festival throughout the day with a final performance at night on Monday, October 3 at 6:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The Let All Men Sing performance is free and open to the public.

New CAST announced for Hixson-Lied College

Lincoln, Neb.--The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts announces its 2016-2017 CAST.

The six members of the CAST will share their stories with prospective students this year through online videos, social media and special appearances. They also serve as Hixson-Lied College Student Ambassadors.

Fischer, Hawley combine talents for Time Pieces

LINCOLN, Neb.— Time Pieces is a new music and multi-disciplinary performance program performed by violinist Rebecca Fischer and visual artist Anthony Hawley. The performance will take place on Sunday, September 25 in the Lied Center’s Carson Theater at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 General Admission/$3 Students/Seniors.

Anderson plans upcoming trombone recital in Kimball

Scott Anderson will perform a recital of trombone music drawing on the strength of works by composers who were not disposed to write for the instrument on Wednesday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. Chamber Singers performance time at Sheldon Museum of Art changed

LINCOLN, Neb.— The time of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Chamber Singers Friday, December 2 performance at the Sheldon Museum of Art has been changed to a 6 p.m start.

The performance is a part of the Sheldon’s First Friday event in December.
