Lincoln, Neb.--On Tuesday Sept. 1, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film Student Chapter of USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology) will join with Lincoln’s Lied Center for Performing Arts, Kimball Recital Hall, and other theatres nationwide for #WeMakeEvents #RedAlertRESTART.

Temple Building and the Lied Center for Performing Arts, at 12th & R streets, along with Kimball Recital Hall at 11th & R streets, will be joining with buildings, structures and residences across the United States lit in red from 9 -10:30 p.m. as the event rolls across North America. The goal is to raise public awareness that the Live Events Industry is on Red Alert for its very survival.

Students from the organization will be on site during the event.

According to the national USITT office, “#WeMakeEvents #RedAlertRESTART and #ExtendPUA represent a major call to action on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020, imploring the U.S. Congress to pass the RESTART Act (S.3814) as quickly as possible, offering economic relief to the Live Events Industry, which has been shuttered since March 2020, putting millions of people out of work. Additionally, the movement is to support ExtendPUA.org in their efforts toward the continuation and extension of the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance to provide relief to those without work due to COVID-19.”
